As someone who worships animated films, but gets bored very quickly with Pixar overload I've come to treasure every truly great feature that comes along.
I'm talking about animated features that aren't marketing vehicles for toys and other kid's merchandise.
And those are all too rare.
I'll get to the point.
French animator Sylvain Comet's film, "The Triplets of Belleville," is not only one of these rare movies I'm talking about.

If you're reading this blog, you are clearly into animation, so it's likely you have seen it, but if not, go out any buy a copy of "The Triplets of Belleville." Don't rent. Buy. Just trust me, it's worth it.
But now, you're asking why I'm talking about a masterpiece that's 7-years-old.
That's because we're in for another of these rare treats.
Comet is back with "The Illusionist." It hits theaters in December, although it's possible we'll be seeing it released later than that here in Kansas City.
