The mission of Kansas City Women in Film & TV is to empower, promote and mentor women in film & the media. Kansas City women are involved in every facet of filmmaking from screen writing, directing, producing, acting, cinematography through editing, marketing and more… They are in every genre – horror, comedy, drama, children and family films. They produce works for fun and profit for the big screen, television and webisodes for the internet. They are passionate about film.

This CinemaKC event showcases talented KC Women in Film & TV members with shorts, trailers and teasers. Many KCWIFT members are award winners. Everything from screenwriting competitions, Film Festivals and audience awards to the General Motors Acceleration Grant and a recent webisode series, The Unreal Housewives of Kansas City that won a local Emmy! Some have found national and international distribution. There will be Q&A with the filmmakers after the screenings.

As well as the periodic showcases at Screenland Crown Center, CinemaKC encourages alliances between area filmmakers at its website, cinemakc.org. The organization is heavily reliant on social networking to connect the various film and related associations by hosting space on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn. Future showcase screenings will include other strategic partners of CinemaKC. The list is continuing to grow as more organizations are getting involved.

CinemaKC is an initiative of the Film Society of Greater Kansas City, connecting with movie lovers since 1991. For more information contact Vicky Bates at 816-506-2111 or vbates555@gmail.com.
