DreamWorks Animation plans to release the on-screen adaptation of Mr. Peabody and Sherman, based on the famous Rocky & Bullwinkle characters of the 50’s and 60’s. The studio signed Robert Downey, Jr. to voice the beloved brained canine in a film scripted by Jeffrey Ventimilia and Joshua Sternin, who wrote for The Simpsons.
“Certainly for Boomers, they’re in the sweet spot of our childhood animation memories, but beyond there it gets a little bit, well, not quite as familiar,” director Rob Minkoff told ET.
The movie is set for release in 3D in 2014 according to Entertainment Weekly.
