'Hellboy' Director joins ranks of Dreamworks Animation

Film director Guillermo Del Toro recently joined Dreamworks and is consulting on their animation projects.  He has been named executive producer on two of the studio’s upcoming films, "The Guardians" and the Shrek spinoff "Puss in Boots."  Del Toro has already consulted for Dreamworks on "Megamind" and on "Kung Fu Panda 2."

"It's almost an irresistible medium to play in,'' Del Toro told the Los Angeles Times. "I'm a filmmaker who is interested in truth and not reality, and I think there is great emotional truth and power to be found in animation."

The director of ‘Pan's Labyrinth’ also spends at least two days a week at Dreamworks writing and directing his first animated feature, ‘Trollhunters.’ It’s a tale about kids experiencing growing pains in a fantasy realm.
