Kansas City, MO - Oct.4, 2010 – The master alchemist of photography, Jerry N. Uelsmann, and Photoshop pioneer Maggie Taylor will be the featured artists in a lecture sponsored by the Photography Society of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. This joint artists’ talk is scheduled for 1 p.m. Oct. 30 in the Museum’s Atkins Auditorium. While both artists are renowned for their "constructed" images, they represent two generations – at once distinct and logically related – of creative thought.
For 50 years, Uelsmann has used conventional darkroom techniques to produce his dreamlike visions; Taylor’s work, on the other hand, stems from the cutting edge of digital technology. Together, they suggest the powerful synergy of old and new technologies, as well as the enduring power of the unfettered imagination.
Attendance to the lecture is free, but tickets should be obtained by calling 816.751.1ART (1278) – option 2 – or on-line at nelsonatkins.org.
