Adobe Guest Speakers
The Future of HTML5 Motion Design (Paul Trani)
HTML5 and CSS3 are hot, driven by an explosion of new, Internet connected devices. While they offer many new features that should allow you to do the types of things that you previously did in Flash, actually making it happen is really hard. Until now. Adobe Evangelist Paul Trani will give you a first-hand look at Adobe Edge, which is designed to save you time while creating beautiful motion and interactive content for the Web.

Paul Trani is a Creative Suite Evangelist for Adobe Systems. Although he has worked with the entire suite of tools he specifically focuses on showing designers and developers how to use Flash and HTML5 to create award-winning work for desktop, mobile and tablet devices.
Paul has been an Adobe Certified Instructor for over a decade as well as creating some of the official courseware. A prolific trainer, Paul has earned top author status at Lynda.com and has created a constant stream of content for AdobeTV as well as his own tutorials on www.designupdate.com.
Prior to joining Adobe, Paul led a team of interactive designers and developers at Starz Entertainment producing multimillion dollar web and mobile campaigns.

Workflow for Creating Animation in Flash and HTML (Chris Georgenes)
Learn from animation expert Chris Georgenes of Mudbubble as he walks through various games, character animation and interactive content he’s created for clients using Adobe Photoshop Touch and Flash Professional. Always an educational and informative speaker, Chris will share his approach to various animation projects, sharing his artful way of using Adobe tools.

Chris Georgenes started life like most humans, covered in placenta and with minimal motor skills. It was not long before he learned how to use both hands and feet as a groove-oriented drummer in a variety of rock bands. Upon standing fully erect, he attended a fine art school and received his BFA. Years later someone invented the Internet, and then another person invented Flash. Riding on the coattails of these two individuals, Georgenes was able to carve a unique niche for himself using both tools. In recent years Chris has been the art director for Say Design Games, Acclaim Games, Playdom Games, Disney Interactive Media Group and is now enjoying being part of the team at Game Show Network Digital as the Director of Creative Development.

Optimizing Sites for Mobile Development with Dreamweaver (James Williamson)
Although not every website needs a separate site for mobile or a companion mobile application, optimizing your site for mobile devices is becoming a critical part of web design. Join lynda.com senior author James Williamson as he guides you through the process of developing a mobile strategy for your sites. This session focuses on best practices for optimizing your site for mobile devices while taking advantage of Dreamweaver CS5.5`s powerful mobile development tools.

James Williamson is a senior author for lynda.com and an Adobe Certified Instructor. He has many years of web, print, and digital video experience, and has been a featured speaker at Flashforward as well as a regular speaker at Adobe MAX. James also blogs (infrequently) about all things web at his site, Simple Primate, which can be found at  http://www.simpleprimate.com/.

Interactive InDesign (Dee Sadler)
In this session we'll show you just how useful InDesign can be from animations to interactive PDF's to using InDesign to create clickable wireframes. Along the way we'll also take about how InDesign is making it super easy to publish your own ePub, and a good overview of how this program isn't just about desktop publishing any longer.

Dee Sadler is an Adobe geek girl and designer who codes. She is an Adobe Certified Instructor and CTT+ Technical Trainer, an Adobe User Group Manager and Adobe Community Professional for the Creative Suite. She is a frequent speaker at conferences including Adobe MAX in 2010, as well as conference organizer for D2W, a designer/developer/mobile workflow conference in Kansas City, MO. Her favorite topics to speak on are CSS, Flash Catalyst, Fireworks and anything workflow related within the Creative Suite. Dee also did a few videos for Total Training on Dreamweaver CS5 and Fireworks CS5 (http://www.totaltraining.com/bios/deesadler.asp). She also has a workflow podcast on iTunes called D2WPodcast and just had an article in the Adobe Edge newsletter come out, Design 101 for Developers.
Developer Session (MU Student Center Second Floor, Chamber Auditorium)
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Getting Started with PhoneGap (Leif Wells)
In 2011, Adobe purchased Nitobi, the company responsible for the PhoneGap, an open-source programming tool for building Web applications for mobile devices. In this session Leif Wells will guide you through the first steps in making a PhoneGap application, orient you in the work environment, inform you of the decisions you will need to make in creating a new application. This session will expose the pros and cons you need to know about PhoneGap.

Leif Wells is the Enterprise Architect for Rich Internet Applications at Measured Progress, a leader in the Education industry. Leif has 20 years of interactive media experience as a lead developer working with companies like IBM, Coca-Cola, UPS, and Georgia-Pacific.

Tangled: HTML5
Flash is dead. Long live HTML5. Or not? There has been a lot of misinformation spread by advocates of both standards and plug-ins. In this session, you will learn the benefits and disadvantages to deploying online video with HTML5 and Adobe Flash Player. Topics include codec decisions (AVC/H.264, WebM/VP8, and others), licensing, and deployment scenarios (progressive download, adaptive HTTP streaming, and more).

Robert Reinhardt, VP of [the MAKERS], is internationally regarded as an expert on multimedia application development and online video, particularly in Adobe Flash and AVC/H.264.
Robert has served as an online video expert for award-winning sites such as abc.com's first Full Episode Streaming site and Nike SB's skateboarding documentary, Debacle. Selling over 200,000 copies worldwide in over 13 languages, Robert's books include the first seven editions of the Flash Bible (Wiley), as well as Video with Adobe Flash CS4 Professional Studio Techniques (Adobe Press). As an Adobe Certified Instructor and an Adobe Community Professional, he has also developed multimedia training for higher education and Fortune 100 companies. Robert's latest project, videoRx.com, enables high quality video encoding for optimized online deployment.

AIR Native Extensions with Mobile Apps (David Ortinau)
Building high quality apps quickly with AIR is a huge advantage, but alone it has limited access to the native platform and device it runs on. With AIR Native Extensions (ANE) we can now combine native code with Flash to access the full range of capabilities each device provides. In this session we will look at what ANEs are, how they can be built, but even better where to find and how to use ANEs prebuilt without writing a single line of native code.

David Ortinau is a freelancer with 15 years of experience building, designing, and producing digital media. He passionately advocates great design, processes, relationships, businesses, strategies, and code. David actively participates in the Flash community online through Twitter, blogging, and user group presentations. He also speaks at conferences, having most recently presented at 360|Flex and Flash Camp St. Louis. He currently crafts user experiences with Flash, Flex, iPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7, and all the traditional trappings of web development.

Native on iOS vs Flex Mobile for Android (JP Revel)
The opportunity presented itself:  Build the same app on two platforms, using two technologies. In this session, we will look into some of the challenges, choices and benefits of each of these paths. Find out the pain points of app development in general, and learn from my follies and experiences. This talk will be a little about code, platforms, and Apple's App Store vs the Android Marketplace.

Having spent two decades at ad agencies in Chicago and San Francisco, JP Revel discovered his passion in work comes from supporting creative efforts; through teaching software and various IT roles, and now through software development. He started out learning ColdFusion in 2000, then continued on with several languages as time went on. JP went freelance 2003, and is now managing a small group at his development studio, Lelander, in St. Louis. Outside of work, he and his wife lovingly survive together, while raising three girls. He also loves sailing and skiing, and suffers terribly from vintage car disease.
Adobe Digital Publishing Workshop (MU Student Center Second Floor, Room 2213 B)
9:00 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Adobe Digital Publishing Workshop (April Clark)
Design publications for the iPad without writing code! The new Folio Producer Tools in InDesign CS5 and CS5.5 allow you to create immersive publications for the iPad, as easily as if you were laying out a page in InDesign. InDesign CS5.5 also has new features to help streamline the process of creating ebooks.

Objectives:
— Learn how you can use your existing InDesign skills (along with some new features) to design highly interactive publications (like the Wired magazine app).
— Learn how to use the Overlay Creator Panel in InDesign CS5 or CS5.5 to add interactivity (such as Pan and Zoom, slideshows, add audio/video and more).
— Learn how to share your app design with clients – who will be able to view it on the iPad to review – directly from InDesign.
— Learn about publishing your design as an app via the Apple iTunes store using the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.
--- Learn about the new features to streamline the process of exporting eBooks (.epub) from Adobe InDesign CS 5.5.
